Introducing Baby to Solids
Baby's Food Progression Table

A few quick tips:

Start with very liquid cereals and vegetables.

Introduce non-sweet foods first, such as cereals.

As babies get older, the consistency of the foods thickens.
When feeding your baby solid foods, avoid all foods with chemicals, artificial colors, artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, nitrites and pesticides. To minimize pesticides on your foods, try to buy organic, as opposed to conventionally-grown produce. If you must buy conventionally-grown produce, minimize your baby's exposure to pesticides used on the produce, by washing your produce with vegetable/fruit rinses.

Keep foods, which include sugar, to a minimum, if at all. If you do give your child a product with sugar, or other added sweeteners, take note of their behavior immediately afterward. Some children do not handle sugar well. Many cases of hyperactivity and ADHD may well be attributed to too high a sugar and processed food intake.
Have fun, and don't forget the bib!

Initial Foods

Breastmilk.

Breastmilk. Nature's most perfect food.

Natural Formula.

If you cannot breastfeed, or need to supplement breastfeeding with another liquid food, try your own formula made with goat's milk or PET.

Manufactured Baby Formula's.

Use these after you have exhausted all the other two alternatives.
Modern prepackaged formulas were one of the first products to openly accept genetically modified ingredients. As of this writing, not one of the major baby formula makers has chosen NOT to accept GMO's.

Genetic modification may be in the following baby formula ingredients: corn syrup, corn and soybean oils, soy lecithin, soy protein, etc.

Babies fuss when given bottles of formula. Mama, if you can, opt for breastmilk. If you can't, bless you, you have tried your best.

You can help get GMO's out of baby products by phoning or e-mailing the manufacturer and voicing your strong concern.

First Solid Foods
For Babies 4 - 6 Months

Start by introducing foods that are comprised of a single ingredient. These foods can be purchased ready-made in small jars, or can be made at home.
Many parents start with cereal, then proceed to vegetables. Fruits are usually not introduced until baby has had the opportunity to acclimate his/her tastebuds to non-sweet foods.

First foods will be very liquidy.

Before introducing subsequent new foods, wait a few days. Foods your baby tolerates well will be met with enthusiasm and will not cause elimination problems or allergic reactions.

Multi-Ingredient Chunky Food for Babies over 9 Months

We recommend organic chunky foods from Earth's Best, or Tender Harvest, if you are going to buy prepared baby foods. However, your baby may be more interested in the foods on your plate than any food in a jar.

If you do choose to feed your older baby the foods that the rest of the family eats, please remember to:
Dice or mash food into small pieces,

Limit salt and sugar additions to baby's portion of food,

Not give tuna or honey to a child under 1 year old,

Continue to avoid giving your baby foods or drinks that contain artificial preservatives, artificial flavors, artificial colors or artificial sweeteners

Hold off on giving whole nuts, popcorn, raisins, whole, raw carrots, or undiced natural hotdogs to young children as they are prone to choke on these foods.

organic baby bib
Many baby foods,
if not most,
are made with, or use,
genetically-modified products
.
It is irresponsible and inhumane
to make test-subjects
out of
babies and children.
Many genetically-modified
(or biotech) foods
are causing severe allergic reactions,
or worse.
Use organic baby food
or make your own,
out of fresh, organic ingredients.

Fresh, is best!
